Musical career | |
Starting his musical career as a church musician in 1959, ANDERS HALLENGREN for ten years studied violin,
classical guitar, and concert flute at the Communal Music School, the Swedish national music school system,
and at the Adolph Fredrik Music School, and was taught piano, music theory, and composing by Gösta Wallenius/Mac Morris.
He also collaborated in publishing projects for a while with music theoretician Herbert Connor and the Swedish-Spanish
guitar player Gunnar Lif. For many years working as a pop and jazz musician (in bands ranging from FOG to East End
Brass Band) and a sometime studio resource at rock music recordings, he eventually took an interest in mediaeval music
and lyrics and has lectured on this subject at the Royal College of Music and has been a visiting professor at the
Medieval and Renaissance Consortium in Honolulu. He has composed a number of commissioned works, for commencements as
well as for jubilees, including the Swedenborg Foundation Sesquicentennial in New York City in 2000. In later years
he has studied electronic music at EMS, the Institute for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden, where he is currently at
work in collaboration with Stefan Östlund. He has been listed in reference works such as Who's Who in the World of
Entertainment and Who's Who in America.
